Site history
Of the early construction, dating from the late 11th Century, only the flat buttressed nave remains, with its schist quarry-stone walls arranged in a fish-bone pattern. The facade and the portal also date from the Romanesque period. Part of the flat chevet choir dates from the late 12th Century. Queen Matilda, who remained very attached to her husband's home town, offered subsequent donations to the church of Saint Laurent, as she did to the church of Saint Gervais and the Sainte Trinité in Falaise.
